4 Days Coach Travel
300th Anniversary Porcelain in Europe
23rd – 26th April 20

Let’s enjoy a wonderful weekend together discovering The White Gold. We travel to SELB, to MEISSEN, the birthplace of European porcelain, and to DRESDEN, the lovely city on the Elbe.
Both of us, Petra and Jörg Kugelmeier, finished our studies of porcelain painting at the “Porzellan Manufaktur Meissen”.
We want to celebrate the 300th anniversary of European Porcelain, and invite you to join us for a memorable trip to many German factories.

Friday, 23rd of April 2010:

Start at Lenggries/Munich.
We stop at Selb, important centre of fine china in Northern Bavaria. We present the Flügel Factory, a young workshop, famous for its bathroom designs and fairytale style cups and saucers.
We visit the Porcelain Museum and the gorgeous actual Exhibition “Königstraum und Massenware”.

Visit of “Flügel and Rosenthal store” (if time allows).

Early evening, we leave for MEISSEN

Saturday, 24th of April 2010:

Visit of the “Staatliche Porzellan Manufaktur Meissen GmbH“.
Searching for gold, the alchemists discovered the porcelain.
Since this time, The White Gold is produced and painted with great skill.
At the Open Door Day, we will get the opportunity to observe and admire the working artists.

In the afternoon, join us to look through many Antic Shops, hunting for “Meissener Porzellan”.
A guided tour of the old town and the Albrechtsburg will end with a lovely cup of coffee.
In the evening, we’ll taste wine and enjoy a yummy dinner at the oldest wine restaurant in Meissen: the “Vincenz Richter”.

Sunday, 25th of April 2010:

Arrival in Dresden, City of the Art.
We visit the town and its many attractions: the old town, the “Schlosskirche”, the “Fürstenzug” and the “Frauenkirche”.
Not to forget the Residenzschloss, and the “Grünes Gewölbe”, where we will admire  an outstanding collection of jewels, not to be seen in any other part of Europe.
A cosy dinner in the “Sophienkeller”, a centrally located restaurant, will round up this day .

Monday, 26th of April 2010:

On this last day of the tour, we visit the “Porzellan Manufaktur Dresden”. Most people don’t really know this workshop, as it has been overshadowed by Meissen for a long time. We want to show you the production process and the museum. So you will learn to appreciate the beauty of this outstanding porcelain “made in Dresden”.
You can even try to decorate a little piece of “Dresdener Porzellan” during a 2 hours course, or use your skills on sculpting (1hour).
Perhaps this could become your little masterpiece, a precious souvenir reminding you of those days travelling.
